Antique Brass Ladle Strainer Dipper Rat Tail Handle Forged Iron Rustic 1800s

Madera Acres, CA 93638

We offer for sale today this fine antique utensil.

This utensil would be commonly used in the cast iron kettle or pot as a straining ladle dipper. The hearth attendant or cook would use this to skim out the boiled beans, noodles or vegetables.Likely dates to the mid to early 19c.

The handle is constructed of iron with hooked over end for hanging around the fireplace. The ladle bowl is brass-with a copper hand hammered rivet.

The handle measures about 17 inches length. The brass bowl measures about 5 1/4 inches across.

This shows many markings, dents, dings and signs of wear from years and years of use.

Very unique-a great early example.
